Right Time To Go Bald

Overview

Hair fall sucks! And no we’re not just empathising, we know how it feels when you find a cluster of hair in your comb or see a curled up black mess stuck in the drain after every shower. But you know what! It’s not the end of the world. Quite contrary, it is the beginning of a brave new world – where you rock the bald look and look cooler than ever before.

So, if you’re losing hair and are tired of the endless trauma of somehow camouflaging whatever remains on your balding head, it’s time to say ENOUGH, and transcend to the other side. But, first things first, you’re not alone. In fact more people in the world have thinning or no hair on their head than those with a full head. No, it’s not an Indian thing. No, it’s not because you’re not eating your nutrients right. 90% of the time, it’s the genes and genes alone. Everything else may aggravate or slow down when you lose your hair, but if it’s in the genetic memory of your cells, nothing can stop the final reality. To end the rant, if the shape of your nose doesn’t make you flush when someone sees you, your faltering hairline shouldn’t do it either.

Whew! Now that our emotions are out of the picture, let’s come to the main point. Is it the right time for you to get rid of the sparse growth and go completely bald? Let’s read on…

The BALD Truth

The Right Time To Go Bald

Imagine you are a tree, and with time you will observe your leaves falling. There is nothing wrong with that, as this is a natural process as long as the tree is healthy.

The same analogy goes for hair as well. Some men lose their hair gradually over a period of years, but some lose a big chunk of hair too fast too quickly. Going bald is a big change, and it can be hard to pinpoint the right time to go bald. But if you’re struggling with your hair loss, here is a simple way to assess your situation:

How much hair are you losing each day?

If you’re losing about 50-100 strands of hair each day, your hair loss can be managed, i.e. when your shedding is not progressive. With a few changes in your daily routine, diet and including some supplements, the situation can improve.

What Is Your Age?

When considering the age factor, you may be surprised to know that male pattern baldness begins in the late twenties and for some it may come a little earlier too. If you are still in your early twenties, you can wait for some time, talk with an expert, make some tweaks in your lifestyle and your hairline may stabilise over time.

What’s your perception of baldness?

Most guys live in denial of their hair loss because of the cultural stigma associated with a bald look. You may have been part of the bandwagon yourself that made fun of people with no hair on their head. But trust us, it is one of the most liberating and empowering feelings to take the plunge and go bald.

Hear a few stories from guys who’ve gone bald at a young age:

I started losing my hair when I was 18 years old. At first, I tried to conceal it with longer hair and when it didn’t work I switched to a buzz cut to make my hairline appear in that safe length. But with time it just got worse and worse. Finally, after a few years of hiding I accepted my situation and decided to shave my head. From that day to this day, I've never regretted it. I feel so much more confident now. - Abhishek -26

I started losing hair when I was 22 because of alopecia. It was devastating to see so many strands of hair on my pillow, working table and the bathroom sink, but  eventually I realised that my hair didn't define me, and I am done letting it control me. One day I gathered all my courage and shaved my head and I've been rocking the bald look ever since. In fact I'm actually really proud of it now. - Vivek, 28

Going bald feels like the best decision now?

How To Go Bald

Going bald is a tough decision for any man. You’re obviously attached to your hair and feel hesitant to let it go. If your mind is cluttered with thoughts like these, it's very natural to feel like that. But, believe us, shaving your head adds so much to your confidence and body language. Moreover, It is also liberating to be free from the hassle of styling your hair every day to conceal your receding hairline. So, you can either go to a barber or even do it at home. We recommend getting your first head shave by a barber first. But for those follow-ups, you can continue doing it at home. Here’s how you do it at home:

Get the important supplies. You will need hair clippers, a razor or head shaving device, shaving cream, and an aftershave.

Step 1 - Trimming

If the length of your hair is long, trim it down to the shortest length with the help of your hair clippers. This makes the job of shaving your head much easier.

Step 2 - Lather and Shave

Apply shaving cream or shaving foam on your head and spread it evenly all around your head. This step ensures a safer glide while reducing the chances of razor burns. As a method of caution, be sure to follow the contours of your head. Initially shave in the direction of your hair growth and then shave against the grain of your hair growth.

Alternatively, you can choose a more hassle-free method by choosing an electric headshaver that allows you to shave your head any time, anywhere, without ever worrying about getting a nick or a cut.

Try Headshaver Pro from Bombay Shaving Company for easy head shaves.

Step 3 - Clean up

As soon as you’re done with the shaving part, make sure to clean the foam and hair that might be on your head. Rinse your head thoroughly with normal water and pat dry with a towel.

Step 4 - Aftershave

As part of the closing process, make sure to apply aftershave to your scalp to soothe and hydrate your skin. This ensures your skin doesn’t get dry.

THAT’S A WRAP

The decision of when to go bald is a personal one. When it comes to going bald for any reason, the most important thing is to do what makes you feel comfortable and confident. If you do decide to go bald, be proud of your new look! There are so many things you can do to rock a bald head, such as growing a beard, wearing hats, or styling your facial hair to enhance your facial features.
